About ACT

The Alliance for Coastal Technologies (ACT) is a NOAA funded partnership of research institutions, state and regional resource managers, and private sector companies interested in developing and applying sensor technologies for monitoring coastal environments.

ACT is a consortium of research institutions across the country, with headquarters at the Chesapeake Biological Laboratory (CBL), a marine research facility of the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science. ACT is committed to developing an active partnership with state and regional managers and private industry who deal with the need for effective use of sensor technologies in monitoring coastal environmental natural resources.

Partners and their institution representatives:
Each ACT partner is a regional center to engage the scientific and coastal management communities and the private sector in the overall ACT program. This will be accomplished by the development of the Alliance Member, associated with each center, who will be kept informed about ACT activities and have opportunities to have input to the program.
